Introduction

I’m working on a comic book, and this is a bad idea.

It’s something I’ve wanted to do, but never quite knew how to start. I’m not sure I’ll succeed, and this may go down as one of my many incomplete projects.

My anti-qualifications:

• I can’t draw.
• I don’t read much fiction.
• I’m slow.
• I don’t have a lot of free time.

But hey, you’re reading this, so I’m not completely alone. This is the start of a long journey.

Comic books were always more engaging to me than novels. The variety is astonishing:

• Logicomix engages you in a dialogue with the legendary Bertrand Russell, to explore the profound limits of pure mathematics.
• The Death of Captain Marvel pauses the reckless superhero action for a solemn reflection on mortality.
• Watchmen proves that stories do not need to be watered down for an average reader.
• Saga is a space opera that is in every way better than anything that’s on TV right now.
• Sapiens transforms a best-selling novel about the history of humankind into a format that doesn’t make you fall asleep.
• Dragon Ball has been translated to Italian. Grazie drago Shenron!
• Batman: Masque finally brings Phantom of the Opera to Gotham City.

What a playful yet serious medium to tell a story!

As I grow older, I’ve noticed my curiosity steering away from the strange, far removed from the unrestrained mind of a child. And, the day-to-day content I consume pushes me away from the timeless gems worth wallowing over.

Shozar is a story formed by connecting a couple strange, yet timeless, ideas. I hope I can do these ideas justice. This is as much for you as it is wholeheartedly for me.
